BACKPACK FOOD PROGRAM

We are continuing to partner with both elementary and intermediate schools in Bellefontaine to provide extra food for children who are dealing with food scarcity on the weekends. Each week, the guidance counselor gives these students a small bag of food for the weekend. We are in need of donations to cover the cost of the food.  If you feel led, please consider donating! We are also working toward getting another coordinator to help make it all happen.

Additionally, if you or your Connect Group are interested in packing the bags, please contact Karen Wilson. Thank you to all who have donated or packed bags so far this year!  Your support has been amazing! We are currently helping around 90 families between the elementary and intermediate schools.

We have a couple of opportunities to help finish out the school year:

1. Donate. We need approximately $4,000 to finish out this year. If you are interested in giving, you can give directly to VCF and write Backpack Program in the memo.

2. Bring in your extra grocery sacks!  We use plastic grocery sacks for the food each week, and are always in need of them.  Look for the box in the lobby!

TAKE THEM A MEAL

Whether it's a happy occasion (new baby) or a solemn one, volunteers can provide meals to recipients via takethemameal.com. This online resource provides great communication for volunteers from the recipients - including dates, times and food preferences.
